Hi, I am Takuma Mitsumoto from the Faculty of Science and Engineering. In this report, I tried to write about my trip. However, due to the weight restrictions on airplanes, I can’t bring my PC and write a report on my travel destination. Hence, This time it's just a quick update. (ご無沙汰しております、理工学部の光本琢真です。今回のレポートは旅行について書きたいと思っていました。しかし、飛行機の重量制限により旅行先にPCをもっていけずレポートをかけません。なので、今回は近況報告をしたいと思います。それでは、ご覧あれ。)

In the second half of the English class, we can’t pass the test by avoiding it. In my case, I didn’t feel alive because I got a low score in the first test. The passing criteria is 65% or more of the total score. Hence, I’ll say it again with a warning. “Study properly”. 

( 授業後半では、テストを避けては通れません。私の場合、最初のテストでやらかして生きた心地がしませんでした。なので、戒めも意味も込めてもう一度言います。ちゃんと勉強しましょう。)

 That said, let's move on to another topic. ECU has three campuses; my village is at Mount Lawley. On Wednesday, I visited another campus at Joondalup because I heard that there is an original shop. I bought a hoodie (New Balance), a cup, and a notebook as souvenirs. As for the campus, it’s just huge!! It seems to be as large as three Setagaya campuses. Also, I visited there a park called Central Park near the campus, too. It looked like Yoyogi park. Of course, Central Park is larger than it.

(まぁ過ぎたことはよいとして、別の話をしましょう。ECUは3つのキャンパスがあり、私の寮はマウントローリーというところにあります。別キャンパスのジューンダラップに独自のキャンパスショップがあると聞き、水曜日に訪れてみました。お土産にパーカー(ニューバランス製) 、コップ、ノートを買いました。キャンパスに関しては、とにかくデカい!! 世田谷キャンパスが3つ分入りそうなくらいの広さです。また、キャンパス近くにあるセントラルパークにも行ってみました。代々木公園みたいな場所でした(個人の感想です)。もちろん、こっちの公園の方が代々木公園より大きいです。)

EAP is activities with ECU buddies. Basically, these activities are planned by ECU, but I went to Scarborough Beach with my group members and buddies once. Honestly, I didn’t like EAP because I still can’t speak well with native speakers. However, through this outing, I found that they don’t worry about mistakes as much as like we do in English classes, and the most important thing is just enjoyment!! But there is absolutely no shame in turning to fellow TCU students for help. 

(EAPはECUのバディーとの活動のことです。基本的にはECU側が企画するものですが、一度同じグループのメンバーとバディーだけでスカボロービーチに行きました。正直、まだまだ現地の人とうまく会話ができないのでEAPが苦手でした。しかし、バディーは英語の授業のようにミスは気にしておらず、とにかく楽しむことが一番大切です!! でも本当に困ったときは、TCU生のことも頼りにすべきです。)

Well, I did all the exams, okay? As mentioned earlier, I practiced hard because of the first writing. As a result, I got the certificate of participation for the TCU Academic English Program (level 1). In addition, somehow, I received the so-called ‘Trying Hard Award’ (in my class), too. That said, I didn’t mind honored, so I was glad. Even though it’s a low-level class, I felt results follow depending on how we approach things. So, I’ll keep doing my best in the next classes. (いや、もちろん全部の試験は受けましたよ? （笑）　前述した通り、初回のテストが原因で猛勉強しました。結果として、TCU アカデミックイングリッシュ(レベル1)の修了書?をもらいました。加えて、なぜかいわゆる「クラスで一番頑張ったで賞」ももらいました。とはいえ、もらって悪い気はしないのでうれしかったです。レベルが低いクラスとはいえ、取り組み方次第で結果が伴うと実感しました。そんなわけで、次の授業も引き続き頑張ります。)
