Nice to meet you, I’m a TAP’s student (Cycle B) named Takuma Mitsumoto. As the first study abroad report, I’ll introduce what I did before I left the country and until arriving in Perth. (はじめまして、TAP生(サイクルB)の光本琢真です。初回の留学レポートとして、私が出国前からパースに到着するまでに何をしたか紹介したいと思います。)

Let me say this first, it is better not to imitate my way because I packed with as many things as I could and had a hard time to sort out which ones to bring. I use one suitcase (CAPACITY: about 92L, SIZE: H79.5cm×W42cm×D35cm), one travel bag and a familiar backpack.(先に断っておくと、詰め込めるだけ詰め込んでしまいどれを持っていくか選別するのにくろうしたので、私のやり方をマネしないほうがいいです。荷物はスーツケース(容量: 92L, サイズ: 高さ79.5 cm×幅42cm×奥行き35cm)、旅行用カバン、使い慣れたリュックを使用しています。)

I stored clothing, sandals, and other essentials. Because August in Australia is very cold such as December in Japan, you should bring some heavy clothing. I recommend having it pre-compressed as shown in the picture. (主に衣類やサンダルなどの必需品を収納しました。豪州の8月は日本の12月並みに寒いので、何着か厚着が必要です。写真のようにあらかじめ圧縮させておくといいです。)

I’ll use it to hold souvenirs when I return. In addition, It can be used for backpack weight adjustments. (帰国時のお土産入れに使う予定です。加えて、リュックの重量を調整する用にも使えます。)

There are electronic equipment, stationery and TAP’s handbook etc. However, as an anti-pickpocket measure, it is better to keep some valuable in other small bags and close to the body. Especially, credit cards are essential abroad, please be careful of theft and skimming. (電子機器や文房具、TAPのハンドブックなどなど。ですが、スリ対策として貴重品は別の小型バックに入れて体に密着させた方が良いでしょう。特にクレジットカードは海外では必須なので、窃盗とスキミング(カードの情報を勝手にスキャンして、情報をのぞき見すること)には注意しましょう。)

If you finish packing, you will just depart for Perth!! By the way, how long did we fly on the airplane? It’s total about 13 hours (Of course, just sitting). So, I recommend watching movies available on board or sleeping. In my case, I watched “WISH” at 1:00 a.m. and “THE BOY AND THE HERON” before sleeping. (荷物の準備が整ったら、後はパースに向けて出発するだけです。ちなみに、どれくらいの時間飛行機に乗ったでしょうか。合計で13時間くらいです。なので、寝るか機内で見れる映画を見るのを推奨します。私の場合、夜中の1時に「ウィッシュ(ディズニー)」と寝る前に「君たちはどう生きるか」を見ました。)

 After arriving, we must undergo quarantine inspection. If you worry then, it is best to ask for confirmation. Above all, having time to spare is very important. Finally, ECU staff and buddies will welcome you! (到着後は検疫検査を受けなければなりません。判断に迷ったら、ここは素直に確認をしてもらいましょう。何よりも、時間に余裕を持つことは非常に大切です。最終的には、現地のスタッフさんやバディーの方々が暖かく迎えてくれます。)
